The mission of Austin Water is to provide safe, reliable and high quality water services to our customers-now and in the future. And to continue to fulfill that mission, the Austin Water Utility (AWU) is constructing a new water treatment facility. The plant will be in northwest Austin and draw water from Lake Travis.

Administrative Building Design

Austin's newest water treatment plant will consist of water intakes, a pump station, and pipelines to get water from Lake Travis into the treatment facility and then into the water distribution system.

The first phase of the plant will produce 50 million gallons of water a day and will be operational by 2014. The plant, after all the phases are built, will ultimately be able to produce 300 million gallons of water a day.
