Litter Control

Property owners and Austin residents are responsible for keeping their property free from litter as well as the sidewalk, street and alley adjacent to their property.

Solid Waste Services helps keep Austin looking good by:

• Cleaning the downtown area each night.
• Assisting with organized cleanups
• Sweeping residential streets every two months
• Sweeping thoroughfares once a month
• Emptying public garbage cans

These services, as well as bulk collections, large brush collections, the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, dead animal collection and some code enforcement activities, are funded by the Anti-Litter Fee on the solid waste portion of your utility bill.
