TIPS FOR SUCCESSFULLY BIDDING ON CITY OF AUSTIN CONTRACTS
Whether you are a prime consultant, prime contractor, sub-consultant or subcontractor, the success of your business is dependent on many factors including time and effort, knowledge and marketing, and response to solicitations. The ability to make decisions and negotiate is among the many characteristics of a successful business owner. Your tenacious drive for successfully contracting on City of Austin projects should include:
- Responding to solicitations, even if it is a "no response" or "no bid"
- Attend Pre-response or Pre-bid meetings to market your business
- Ask questions about the project such as: scope of work, cost estimating, and time schedule, etc.
- Visit DSMBR's Plan Room for assistance in locating, viewing, & printing of specific projects through the Dodge program.
- Follow up with the City, consultants, or contractors on perspective contracts
A certified MBE, WBE or DBE may contact DSMBR to request a meeting with a potential prime if they have submitted a bid/proposal and have not been contacted.
