Novel Gift Ideas For Holidays, Birthdays,
Anniversaries, Graduations, and Special Occasions
A Library Book in Their Name!
Do you have public-spirited readers on your gift list? Then we have the perfect gift idea: To honor a special friend or family member, give the Austin Public Library a book, music CD, recorded book, or magazine subscription in their name. They’ll love the idea!
The Library’s “Novel Gifts” program is an ideal way to express the true spirit of sharing, by sharing with the whole City of Austin. If your friends and family members have bookshelves that are overflowing, they’ll appreciate keeping “their” book at the library. And for young readers, having a special children’s book donated in their honor offers a great lesson about giving back to the community — with a great book they can check out and read.
Gifts can be made in any amount: $15 - $20 buys a children’s book or a music CD; $25 funds a hardcover best-seller; $50 buys a book-on-tape, a video, or a magazine subscription. Or make a more significant gift in honor of a whole family or that special someone or client.
Your recipients will get:
- A donation that can reflect their personal interests - select a genre, topic, library collection or branch, or even a specific author or title (subject to library needs)
- Their name inscribed on a special bookplate, placed inside the “gifted” book
- A letter from Austin Public Library announcing that you have made a donation in their honor (to ensure notification before the holiday, please also send your own card)
- The opportunity to be the first person to check out the brand-new book (or other material) when it’s placed in the collection
To participate:
- Send a check for $15 or more, made out to the Austin Public Library, with the APL Gift Donation Form to Austin Public Library, P.O. Box 2287, Austin TX 78768-2287
- Form may be downloaded at www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/downloads/giftdonationform.pdf
