Tree Planting in Memory of Frederick Crawford
University Hills Branch, Austin Public Library

On Saturday, November 14, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., an oak tree will be planted in the front yard of the University Hills Branch of the Austin Public Library, 4721 Loyola Lane, in memory of Frederick Crawford. Freddie, as he was known by his friends and family, was tragically killed by an oncoming automobile on June 25, 2009 while crossing the street to get to the library. He was eight years old and would have started the third grade this fall at Harris Elementary School. His mother expressed that he loved reading and libraries. His father said "if you'd have known him and seen the way his eyes looked at you, you'd fall in love with him." The University Hills Branch will plant a living tree in his memory. The tree planting ceremony is open to the public. For more information call 512-974-9940 or visit www.cityofaustin.org/library.
