Meet the Author, Don Martin

The Austin History Center Association and the Austin History Center proudly present Meet the Author, Don Martin on Saturday, June 27, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Austin History Center, 810 Guadalupe Street. Don Martin, author of Austin, a title in the Postcard History Series published by Arcadia Publishing, will discuss his love of postcards, Austin, and how these interests came together in his book that depicts Austin buildings and life from the 1890s to 1950. A book signing will follow the presentation and light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Don Martin

About the Author
Don Martin collects Republic of Texas memorabilia, Texas maps prior to Texas statehood, and of course Austin postcards. Martin founded Don Martin Public Affairs in 1989. A portion of his current work involves obtaining public support for real estate projects and developments. Martin is semi-active in Austin real estate development as well as an owner and developer of real estate projects in the Central Texas area. He has built townhomes, duplexes, office, retail, and mixed-use centers, and two master-planned mixed-use developments -- La Frontera in Round Rock and San Gabriel Village in Georgetown. He was editor and publisher of Texas Government Newsletter for five years and has written several compilation books on the Texas Legislature and the Guide to the 67th Legislature.

As the local history collection of the Austin Public Library, the Austin History Center provides the public with information about the history, current events, and activities of Austin and Travis County. We collect and preserve information about local governments, businesses, residents, institutions, and neighborhoods so that generations to come will have access to our history.
