Are you looking for a poem or a speech but you don’t know where to start? Is the short story you need not where you thought it would be? Then check out the LitFINDER database. Find what you need through a quick keyword search or browse the database’s collections of poems, speeches, short stories, essays, or plays. A Kids’ Korner section provides access to poetry by categories appealing to children such as “Animals” and “Special Days.”
The Poem Finder contains over 125,000 full-text poems and indexing to over 850,000 more. The collection is international in scope and contains poems from both the past and the present. You can search for poems with any of the words in the title, the first or last line of the poem, or by book title, author, subject, and more.
The Short Story Finder contains over 5,000 full-text short stories ranging from the classic to the most contemporary. The database also provides context for the stories by providing explanatory materials like biographies and pictures. The Play Finder contains over 1,000 complete plays. A subject analysis and full character list is provided for each play in the collection.
The Essay Finder provides access to essays that focus on the humanities and social sciences including biographies and literary criticism. The Speech Finder contains full-text speeches from antiquity to the present and provides searchable genre access.
