www.cityofaustin.org/library/databases.htm
Are you looking for some summer reading ideas for yourself or your kids? Some books to take to the beach? Or audio books to listen to in the car? Then The Patron Books in Print database is for you. The database has more than 5 million fiction and nonfiction titles for adults and children. Find what you want with a quick search or get ideas by browsing by subject, author, or award.
Results include editorial reviews, cover images, publisher and bestseller information, awards won, and media mentions.
Create a “my favorites” profile to save a reading list that can be viewed, edited, printed, or emailed. Sign up to receive an email alert when new items that fit your profile are released.
Visit the Fiction Room or the Children’s Room to find favorite series, recurring characters, award winners, and listings of bestsellers by year from Publishers Weekly.
Jump to the Fiction Connection database to find titles similar to books you already enjoy or to explore book ideas by searching by topic, genre, setting, character, location, and timeframe. Refine and narrow your search to find the perfect book. Click the “Search my library’s catalog” button to open a new browser window to APL’s catalog, where you can check to see if a title is available or place a hold.
The Patron Books in Print and Fiction Connection databases are available at all Library locations. APL Cardholders can access the database from their home and office computers 24 hours a day.
To find out more call 974-7400 or stop by any Austin Public Library location.
