Film Screening
“LETTERS FROM THE OTHER SIDE”
In celebration of the grand opening of the newly expanded and renovated Terrazas Branch of the Austin Public Library, located in east Austin at 1105 E. Cesar Chavez, the library in partnership with Big Red Sun and local filmmaker, Heather Courtney will screen for a second time “LETTERS FROM THE OTHER SIDE.” The first screening was held in April as part of the Mayor’s Book Club program and was shown to a standing room only crowd. The film uses cross-border video letters to tell the immigration story from the perspective of the women left behind in Mexico. This documentary was recently screened at the 2006 Slamdance and SXSW Film Festivals. Discussion with the filmmaker and others to follow film.
