Finale Event for the Mayor's Book Club Scheduled
for Wednesday, October 6 with a Movie in the Park
You've read the book this summer, you've attended one or many discussion groups at branch libraries this fall, now Mayor's Book Club participants can view the movie based on the book, All the Pretty Horses starring Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz, at a northeast Austin neighborhood park on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. As the finale of this year's citywide reading campaign, in partnership with the Austin Parks Foundation, the Austin Public Library will present a program with Mayor Will Wynn at the Bartholomew Park at 5201 Berkman Drive off East 51st street. A special musical performance, and concessions by the Austin Parks Foundation will be provided. The Friends of the Austin Public Library will be selling both the book and movie of All the Pretty Horses with proceeds benefiting the Austin Public Library. Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy this free family event.
The City of Austin and the Austin Public Library would like to thank our presenting sponsor of this year's Mayor's Book Club, Texas Gas Service, and our media partners, KEYE TV, the Austin American-Statesman Inside Line, and 107.1 KGSR. Additionally, we thank our partners who have been with the program since the beginning, The University of Texas Humanities Institute, the Austin Public Library Foundation, the Friends of the Austin Public Library and area bookstores.
As part of the fall series of "Movies in the Park" this program is benefiting the Austin Parks Foundation, sponsored by Grande Communications, with special assistance from the Alamo Draft House Cinema. For additional information call (512) 974-7400 or visit the Web at www.cityofaustin.org/library.
