Book cover for Holes by Louis Sachar

Discussions and Events

Louis Sachar's Holes is the second annual selection of the "Mayor's Book Club", a city-wide initiative designed to broaden and deepen an appreciation of literature through reading and discussion. The Austin Public Library partners with The University of Texas Humanities Institute to provide free programs and discussion groups beginning in August at local branch libraries.

In addition to the diversity of the group participants, part of what makes the Mayor's Book Club discussions so exciting is that each leader is an accomplished UT faculty member who approaches the book from a different angle of interest and expertise. This year's group of faculty volunteers brings a wide range of relevant concerns and contexts to bear on Louis Sachar's Holes.
