Library Services

Ask a Librarian!
The Library provides answers, research help, Web sources, and information about Library collections, databases, services, and FindIt, the online catalog, by email and phone.

Community Services
The Library offers computer training, meeting rooms, adaptive equipment, proctoring, tours, information for new immigrants, printing and copying, and free tutoring for students.

Computer Training
Computer classes in a variety of topics are offered each month at the Little Walnut Creek, Ruiz, and Faulk Central libraries. Some classes are in Spanish.

Databases
Full-text magazine and newspaper articles, electronic books, dictionaries and encyclopedias, auto and TV repair schematics, and practice tests can be accessed, along with many more useful resources, through the Library's online databases.

Good Reads
Reading lists for the APL collection created by staff librarians, plus award winners, classics and other acclaimed fiction.

Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows Austin Public Library card holders access to materials which are not available from the Library's collection.

Internet Access
The Austin Public Library provides free access to the Internet, including wireless access, at every location.

Library Cards
Apply for an Austin Public Library card to check out books, dvds, music cds, and audiobooks.

Meeting Rooms
The Austin Public Library provides meeting rooms for the public.

Research Tools
Online sources and services, periodicals, and research guides will help you with your research. Reference librarians at Faulk Central Library are available to assist with research needs on any topic by email, by phone, or in person.

TexShare Card Program
Allows registered users to borrow materials directly from The University of Texas, Austin Community College, and libraries outside Austin.

Wired for Youth
The Wired for Youth (WFY) program provides public computer access to children ages 8-18, allowing time for students to work on homework, enroll in computer education classes, and enjoy independent free time on the computers. Other programs include poetry writing, web design, cultural celebrations, and interest group gatherings.

Youth Services
Youth programs, resources, and reading lists entertain and enlighten Austin kids and teens.
