Home 4 the Holidays Animal Shelter Adoptions Kicks Off

Adoptable pets from Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department’s Town Lake Animal Center will be center stage on the Plaza at City Hall from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Thursday, December 11th to help celebrate Iams Home 4 the Holidays.  A proclamation will be read in council chambers encouraging Austin residents to experience the joy of adoption by participating in the 2008 campaign that runs through January 3rd. Town Lake Animal Center is joining Iams, the Austin Humane Society, and more than 2,500 other shelters and rescue organizations around the world to participate in this important effort – working to place 1 million homeless pets with loving adoptive families during this holiday season.

Several pets available for adoption will be on hand with Town Lake Animal Center staff and volunteers to strut their stuff for the press and to encourage Austin residents to open their hearts and homes to a sheltered or rescued pet.
                                     
Dogs will be walked on the Hike & Bike Trail from Town Lake Animal Center at 4:00 p.m., arriving in front of Austin City Hall by 4:30 to spend time meeting people and the press until 6:30 p.m. The proclamation reading will take place in Council Chambers.
