May 2009 Passenger & Air Cargo traffic statistics at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW

May 2009

Passenger Activity:Total passenger traffic for May 2009 was 691,883 down 14.5% compared to May 2008. May 2009 enplanements totaled 346,890, down 15.5%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 255,159, down 5.5% compared to May 2008; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 169,767, down 17.5%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 76,596, down 10%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest Airlines) passengers totaled 72,043, up 36.5%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 38,904, down 17.5%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 34,922, down 8%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 30,723, up 1.5%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 21,592, up 16%; vivaAerobus passengers totaled 2,714, down 75.5%; Air Canada passengers totaled 1,470, down 45%.

May 2009 air cargo totaled 13,069,061 lbs., down 25% compared to May 2008. International air cargo totaled 249,473 down 39.5%. Federal Express carried 8.6 million lbs., up 2.5%; and United Parcel Service carried 2.3 million lbs., down 12%.

Air Services transferred 359,660 lbs of mail, down 40.5%; and 1.1 million lbs. of belly freight, down 33.5%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 5,298 down 21.5%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 15,227, down 21%.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – May YTD was 3,150,106, down 12.5% compared to January – May 2008. January – May 2009 enplanements totaled 1,572,247, down 12.5%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,212,532, down 0.1%; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 721,879, down 23.5%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 369,492, down 11%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest Airlines) passengers 228,311, down 9%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 178,526, down 17%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 169,495, up 49.5%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 148,334, up 23.5%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 84,338, down 6%; vivaAerobus passengers totaled 16,781, up 52%; Air Canada passengers totaled 7,883, up 193.5%.

May YTD (January – May 2009) air cargo totaled 64,303,615 lbs., down 28%. International air cargo totaled 1,390,362 lbs., down 33%. Federal Express carried 41.7 million lbs., down 4%; and United Parcel Service carried 10.8 million lbs., down 21.5%.

Air Services transferred 2.3 million lbs of mail, down 6%; and 6.3 million lbs. of belly freight, down 29%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 24,566 for January – May YTD, down 24%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 72,293, down 22%.
