March 2009 Passenger & Air Cargo traffic statistics at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW

March 2009

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for March 2009 was 663,829 down 15% compared to March 2008. March 2009 enplanements totaled 328,304, down 16%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 277,005, up 5% compared to March 2008; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 126,801, down 38%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 86,611, up 2%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 40,055, up 88%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 39,637, down 19.5%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest Airlines, Shuttle America, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, and Pinnacle) passengers totaled 36,197, down 35.5%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 31,633, up 24%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 18,562 down 12%; vivaAerobus passengers totaled 4,862; Air Canada passengers totaled 2,073.

March 2009 air cargo totaled 12,720,944 lbs., down 26.5% compared to March 2008. International air cargo totaled 307,736 down 12%. Federal Express carried 8.2 million lbs., down 4%; and United Parcel Service carried 2.1 million lbs., down 18%.

Air Services transferred 428,134 lbs of mail, down 5%; and 1.3 million lbs. of belly freight, down 22.5%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 5,045 down 20.5%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 14,906, down 20%.

January – March 2009 Year to Date

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – March YTD was 1,787,732, down 13% compared to January – March 2008. January – March 2009 enplanements totaled 887,820, down 13%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 696,729, up 1.5%; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 386,055, down 30%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 212,966, down 12%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 101,968, down 17%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 101,695, up 84%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest Airlines, Shuttle America, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, and Pinnacle) passengers 99,110, down 31%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 87,060, up 29%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 46,799, down 12.5%; vivaAerobus passengers totaled 11,793; Air Canada passengers totaled 4,669.

March YTD (January – March 2009) air cargo totaled 38,482,906 lbs., down 28%. International air cargo totaled 847,504 lbs., down 30%. Federal Express carried 24.8 million lbs., down 6%; and United Parcel Service carried 6.2 million lbs., down 20%. Air Services transferred 1.5 million lbs of mail, up 11%; and 3.9 million lbs. of belly freight, down 26%. Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 14,519 for January – March YTD, down 22%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 42,585, down 22%.
