August 2009 Passenger & Air Cargo traffic statistics at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW

August 2009

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for August 2009 was 742,019 down 7% compared to August 2008. August 2009 enplanements totaled 360,391, down 7%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 271,225, up 2.5% compared to August 2008; American Airlines passengers totaled 170,605, down 13.5%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 79,423, down 3%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 75,148, up 36%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 43,094, down 13%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 34,980, down 6.5%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 32,254, down 14.5%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 21,403, down 0.5%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 8,740; Air Canada passengers totaled 1,952, down 10.5%.

August 2009 air cargo totaled 11,851,800 lbs., down 32% compared to August 2008. International air cargo totaled 309,081 down 12%. Federal Express carried 8.2 million lbs., down 5.5%; and United Parcel Service carried 1.6 million lbs., down 40%.

Air Services transferred 361,189 lbs of mail, down 30%; and 1 million lbs. of belly freight, down 34%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 4,782 down 13%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 14,859, down 14%.

January – August 2009 Year to Date

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – August YTD was 5,443,950, down 10.5% compared to January – August 2008. January – August 2009 enplanements totaled 2,718,569, down 11%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 2,067,532, up 1%; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 1,256,266, down 20%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 621,132, down 6%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, Pinnacle, and Atlantic Southeast) passengers 452,348, up 5.5%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 312,189, down 15%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 281,422, up 24%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 247,966, up 14%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 154,717, down 1.5%; Air Canada passengers totaled 13,040, up 30.5%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 8,740.

August YTD (January – August 2009) air cargo totaled 101,652,331 lbs., down 27%. International air cargo totaled 2,299,509 lbs., down 28%. Federal Express carried 66.5 million lbs., down 2%; and United Parcel Service carried 16.9 million lbs., down 22.5%.

Air Services transferred 3.5 million lbs of mail, down 20%; and 9.9 million lbs. of belly freight, down 30%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 39,098 for January – August YTD, down 21%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 116,653, down 20%.
